About Kansas City Rescue Mission
The Kansas City Rescue Mission is a Christ-centered organization providing food, clothing, medical care, case management, emergency shelter and recovery programs for up to 120 men each night. We welcome the poor, hungry, hopeless and hurting and offer them help through the process of relief, recovery, and re-entry.
Relief: At the Kansas City Rescue Mission all ministry begins by meeting basic needs, and the credibility gained by these acts of compassion opens doors to take on deeper emotional and spiritual needs. Food, shelter, medical care and of course a word of hope make up the first level of ministry provided to hundreds of homeless each year.
Recovery: The staff of the Kansas City Rescue Mission has never been satisfied to provide only relief services. We want to see the cycles of poverty and addiction broken once and for all. And we facilitate that change by inviting men to join our C-COR, the Christian Community of Recovery at KCRM. The C-COR is a growth-focused residential program that helps residents break personal strongholds of defeat through classes on recovery, one-on-one coaching, Bible study, life skills training, job skills training, community service and accountability. Participants begin to mature and become stable and prepare to re-enter society as productive citizens, extending the Christian Community of Recovery outside the walls of KCRM.
Re-Entry: The Transitional Living Center provides a stable community environment that assists C-COR members as they move from total dependence on the Mission to independence in Christ and stability in the community at large. KCRM also provides case management services for graduates in the re-entry process. This service provides assistance in seeking job training, furthering their education, and securing permanent housing and employment.
